Marie Hopkins is a Rhode Islander "born and raised".  She spent her childhood in Warwick and attended East Greenwich High School.

"My values have been shaped as a mother, a nurse, and a teacher. I have lived in this area for most of my life, gaining degrees from Brown University and URI, working as a psych nurse, a substitute school nurse for the City of Warwick, and as an instructor of CNA coursework at the Community College of Rhode Island."

Marie received a double bachelor's degree with Honors in English and Expository Writing from Brown University. She spent many years working part time as an online editor for two magazines while staying at home to raise her children. Later, Marie was inspired to return to college to pursue a second career. She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from URI, and is both a BSN and RN.

Marie began her nursing career as an acute and criminal psychiatric nurse. Presently, she is teaching at the Community College of Rhode Island, and also serves as a school-nurse substitute for the City of Warwick. She formerly worked for the VA serving our nation's heroes.

Early in her marriage, Marie lived for short times in California, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina and even lived for nearly a year overseas - but she has found it true that there truly is "No Place like Home". Today, she lives in the Coniicut/Hoxsie section of Warwick with her husband and three children where they have resided for over 16 years. Her husband is an attorney for a travel insurance company, her two daughters are pursuing graduate studies in healthcare,  and her son attends High School in Warwick. She lives next door to her grandmother, a Conimicut resident since 1962. Her father was a Cranston police officer before a second career as an engineer for Tyco Fire Protection - her parents now live in Warwick Neck. Her brother is an MD, working in Warwick and the surrounding communities - he and his family are residents of Warwick as well.

Marie has a real commitment to Warwick, and she and her family are fully invested in this community. She has the time, the values, and the dedication to serve Warwick, its residents, and her home state of Rhode Island. Her commitment to the community as a public servant is evident. As a nurse, and an educator, she has the skill set to listen, learn, and lead.
